Overall it was a slow few days in Loch Lomond. The last few weeks have been actually, but speaking to the other guys and noticing what else is going on the green, I would say its quiet for everybody else also. Its that point in the season where the big events are coming thick and fast and most people are settled on their equipment. However we kept ourselves busy.
Spent some time working with Alvaro Velasco setting up a 'Dawn' for him. Also spent a lot of time with Gonzalez Fernando Castano over the 2 days. He is using a rife mid slant hosel, at present. I made up a 'Dawn' for him. He practiced with that on the Tuesday but in the end was not happy. On the Wednesday we spent some time with the 'Tracy 3' looking at the different hosel combinations. Eventually he took both the plumbers neck and the mid slant. Both at 36 inches 3 degrees loft and 71 degree lie, both having to sit a little 'open'.
Also made up a Donna for David Lynn at 33 inches which we had to add some lead tape to get the swing weight up at his request. I think he will be sticking to his Valerie however this week. Thomas Aitken, who qualified for the open on the nearby qualifying courses on Mon and Tues, arrived for the event on Wednesday and asked for a back up Natalie 34 inches.
From an instructional point of view the guys with whom I coach on their putting that were playing this week were Mark Brown, Ollie Fisher, Simon Wakefield and David Horsey. I spent some time with each of the guys over the two days helping them get ready for the event.
Next week its 'THE OPEN' at Turnberry. I will be there for the Mon Tues and Wed. It will be good to meet up with Henrik Stenson again, while also Brandan Grace, Ollie Fisher and Mark Brown whom I work with, have also qualified, so it will be a busy week. Also a very high profile player has asked for some Yes Putters to be made up which he will pick up next week so that could be interesting. I will let you know who that was next week!
