Phil Kenyon reports from the Italian Open, May 09

Published: 12 May 2009

Turin, Italy was the next stop on the European Tour this week for the Italian Open. The practice days were basked in sunshine which enabled the guys to get some good preparation in, on what should be an exciting week on a great golf course. The greens have superb surfaces and also very tricky.

On Tuesday Italian favourite Edoardo Molinari picked up his new Dawn, which is proving to be very popular while the Donna and new interchangable hosel putters, Tracy 3 and Lizzie plus, again received plenty of attention.

Ollie Fisher was playing this week so we spent some time on the Tuesday going over things. He missed the cut last week but putted well. So there wasn't a lot to do, hopefully his long game can find its potential this week.

I also spent some time with Richie Ramsey on the Tuesday. Richie won the US Amateur a few years back and had a very successful amateur career before turning professional last year and getting his card through challenge tour.

We profiled Richie on the SAM Puttlab and captured some video using the casio high speed exilim camera and worked through the data to highlight some keys point to focus on over the forthcoming weeks. Richie took a lot of confidence from the session as the stats came out reasonably well. Hopefully he can turn that confidence into form this week.

Next week we are in Ireland for the Irish Open.
