KLM Open Report with Phil Kenyon

Published: 22 August 2009

It was great to be back out on tour this week for the KLM Open at Zanvoort in Holland. The sun was out for the practice days at the Kennemer Golf Club which made it all the more enjoyable.

Darren Clarke who won last year using a prototype Callie SWS had decided to rekindle his old love affair with the putter and was using it in practice.

After speaking to him, we made up at his request, the new SWS available in a Callie fc head, which he liked and which will be in play this week. Lets hope he is as successfull this week with it, as he was last year.

On Wednesday I met up with David Horsey who was at the studio last week and we continued the work we did in Southport. Specifically we have been working on Davids tempo and consistency of tempo to help his pace control. I think the Kennemer course could suit Davids eye and game this week.

I also met with Taco Remkes, the Dutch player who won 3 times on Challenge tour last year to gain his card. Taco has been struggling on tour this year and came to the studio in his week off last week to spend some time with me. Using the forcpate in the studio revealed some interesting balance issues which helped deal with a fault he was aware off but couldnt quite fix.

It would great to see Taco turn around his fortunes this week in front of his home crowd, as the events are running out now for those players not inside the top 115 of the order of merit to make their move to secure their playing priveledge for 2010.
