It was a successful week for two of Putting Coach Phil Kenyon's students at last weeks US Open at Pinehurst, with German Marcel Siem ending the week in a tie for 12th place and Matthew Fitzpatrick signing off his glittering amateur career by securing the leading amateur crown.
Finishing the week with a level par 70 for a plus 3 total, Siem moves up to 42nd spot in the Race to Dubai rankings. In the 2014 season to date, Marcel has his 'putts per round' and 'putts per green in regulation' statistics at the lowest they have been since he gained a European Tour card back in 2002.
Englishman Fitzpatrick, who now turns professional following the event, took the leading amateur prize - completing his final round as an amateur on Sunday in a one under par 69. Justin Rose, who accompanied Matthew on Thursday and Friday, called Fitzpatrick 'a wonderful putter'. We wouldn't disagree Justin!
