Fleetwood clinches Race to Dubai crown

Southport's Tommy Fleetwood clinched the 2017 Race to Dubai title in dramatic fashion on Sunday in a tense finale at the DP World Tour Championship. Fleetwood, a student of Swash Putting Director Phil Kenyon, pipped another of Phil's students Justin Rose to secure the prize for the first time in his career.

Rose, who had won his previous two tournaments, headed into the final round holding a two-shot lead. The connotations were endless with Fleetwood and Rose changing positions throughout the final round - with Sky Sports continually updating the projected Race to Dubai rankings!

Rose arrived at the 18th with Jon Rahm having already sealed the victory; however Rose still had a chance to finish in a tie for second with Ireland’s Shane Lowry and the Thai Kiradech Aphibarnrat - and that would have been good enough to deny Fleetwood. But his long putt from off the green for the eagle veered off left and Rose had to be content with a tie for fourth on 17-under following a 70.

A dramtic finish to a fantastic 2017 season. A huge congratulations to Tommy and all at 'Team Fleetwood'. Here's to another sensational 2018 season!
