HSPSE pupils Richard Finch and Robert Coles both achieved season's best performances at the recent Andalucian Open in Malaga Spain. Finch who also finished 2nd recently at the Avantha Indian Masters sneaked up behind the eventual winner Louis Oosthuizen with a flourish of birdies over the closing holes.
Coles finished 4th after going into the last day lying in 2nd place. His 3rd round of 63 contained ony 20 putts and had put the Essex man into the final group on the Sunday. However, despite falling back slightly on the final round, his performance over the week is an ecouraging sign for Coles who is on his comeback year on the European tour after regaining his card last year through the Challenge Tour.
Coles finished 5th in the putting stats for the week, with an average of 26.5 putts per round. A symbol of the hard work he has put in on the greens with Director of Instruction Phil Kenyon. Finch finished 7th with an average of 26.7
Another notable performance was that of Joost Luiten, who started working with Phil Kenyon at the start of the year. Joost shot a final round 66 to finish in 6th place.
